CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL JULY 2018
Wednesday 11th of July was the day for the Children's Dance Festival 2018. After all the recent hot weather it was good to be holding the dancing in the large cool Sports Hall at the Tom Finney Centre. Over 130 children attended the dancing from 4 schools, Longridge Berry Lane, Ribchester St Wilfrids, Grimsargh St , Michael, and Sherwood CP. We began with a 2 person dance Badger's Reel to get the children used to the space and dancing to a band. The children were all well behaved and listened carefully to the instructions for each dance. The music was provided by Quadrille Ceilidh Band (Will, Chris and Mark) and what excellent music it was . They played a good variety of tunes at the correct tempo for the dances, The refreshments at half -time were provided by Lancashire Folk and were much appreciated by the children. Thanks to all the staff and helpers who brought the children and helped them on the day. Special thanks to Lancashire Folk who sponsored the event especially to Jeff Thomas who worked hard to ensure a successful event. Although we had more children this year it would be good to have more schools taking part in the future. A great day of dancing enjoyed by all . Lynn Hoyle (Caller for the dances)
